6 things that make me smile

Cricket:

I love Cricket, watching it as I don’t play it often anymore. When I was in school and college, I did play cricket a lot which was a lot of fun and was great socialising with friends. These days I watch Cricket when I can due to work commitments. The tournament I love the best is the IPL. I purchase extra TV channels to ensure I can watch the matches. The people who know me know that I love MSD so my team is CSK. I am lucky that the daily matches tend to start in the afternoon, which is perfect for my working hours and I do tend to get the opportunity to watch most of them. I enjoy watching team India #bleedblue play all the time. As I love the IPL, I do find the ODI’s and Test matches quite slow to watch and I can struggle to sit and watch it the whole day. I have been to watch a few live matches when India has come to the UK to play. They have been a great experience. Although from the distance you are set at, it is difficult to keep up with that is happening. The commentary in the ear is helpful as it helps to keep you updated with the happenings of the game. Otherwise, you are sat there wondering what is happening. When there is a loud cheer, you can tell a wicket has been taken. The atmosphere is great seeing all the fans happy and enjoying their day out. If the weather is good then that is a bonus. My dad is a great Cricket fan and has played cricket when he was younger so that helps us to bond with each other. We tend to watch the matches together and bond over it. I update him on cricket news when I hear about and he lets me know when he hears things too on the news or through his friends.

Date Nights:

Date nights are lovely. I love it when I can go out with my Fiancé and dedicate the time to him. It can be an evening where we forget the general things and go out for a while. It can be to get a quick dessert or for a long drive out of the city. A way to spend some quality time with each other. In the day to day life, it can be difficult to do this all the time so when we are both free we can cut ourselves away from everything and have a good time. If it’s not possible to go out anywhere, then a movie night in with a few glasses of wine and some takeaway is perfect for me. Although if I have had a long week and I am cosy then I will fall asleep midway. It has happened to me a few times. Being with each other and doing something we both love is ideal. Many things can be perfect for a date night. There are so many social activities out there that can count as a date night. From meals out to the cinemas, crazy golf, bowling. They are the more traditional things that are counted as date nights but it can be anything we both love doing. In the warmer months when the daylight is around more longer, we go on walks in a park. It is a great way to stay healthy and to chat along the way too. In the winter we do tend to go for more of the indoor activities like the movie nights in and going to a bar in the town for a few drinks and some music.

Heart to heart conversations:

A good heart 2 heart conversation with anyone is lovely. It gives you the chance to get to know someone very deeply. You get to know what they are thinking and what they are feeling. People aren’t always open about everything and they keep things hidden in their hearts. Of course, the conversations won’t happen, you need to comfortable with the person and they should feel the same back. I love it when I get deep into the conversation and feel what they are feeling. I feel a real connection when that happens. conversations like that can start from a general topic and end up at the very deep end when you think back you think how did we get to this topic. All conversations can’t be like that but even if there’s the odd few that happen now and again then it can be very magical. It can help build a relationship with the person too. I always feel closer to a person after I have a conversation like that and makes me smile. I have conversations like that with my mum, my Fiancé and even some of my friends. There have been so many times when I have managed to find a solution to my problem or even the motivation to find the solution. It’s great because sometimes, sharing what’s on your mind can instantly make you feel better. Even if you don’t find a way to resolve it there and then, you feel lighter that you have got in off your mind. Other times, you may learn more about it through the knowledge of other people. Another person may have a different mindset towards it and may be able to provide you with a different approach which you may not have thought about. I always wish I had more time to be able to give more time to my close ones so I can have many more conversations like them.

Beaches:

Since I was younger, I have always loved being by the water. Being a Pisces star sign contributes to that well. I would love to live by the beach so I could be by the water all the time. I loved my time that I spent in India as my family home is 5 minutes walk from the beach. I loved going there every evening to see the sunset. Letting the water touch my feet made me feel complete. the odd days when I couldn’t go, I always felt like I had missed out on something. Now when I go on holiday, I am always very excited to go on a beach holiday as I know I will get to be by the water again. I could spend the whole day at the beach in the water, although that isn’t the best for my skin it’s good for my mind and for making me smile. I become a child when it comes to the beach, I start searching for seashells and washing them in the water so I can take them home. I never want to leave the beach, I could be dragged away yet I will fight my way back. I feel sorry for my Fiancé who has to deal with me and my tantrums. I end up being grumpy/moody on the way back as I know I won’t be going back to the water for a while. I sit in the car quiet and looking out of the window. Of course, I can’t stay there forever but leaving the place upsets me.

Funfairs:

I love good funfair. It brings out the child in me again like the visits to the beach. I am not a fan of the rides at all, I get scared of them but I do love watching them. Especially in the evenings when the lights have all come on and the music is playing. Flashing lights everywhere, bright colours, loud music. I do love playing the little games, like hook a duck and the darts ( although I’m not good at it at all). I don’t always win but even if I win a smile prize I am happy with that. I have been to funfairs in the past where I have managed to win large toys and then I have had to answer my mum when I got home due to the lack of space in the house. A funfair is one of those places where you can go no matter what your age is. It is a great place to go with family and friends. You see a range of ages there, from the young toddlers on the little fire engines and police cars going round a little track with sirens and lights. The smiles on their faces are to die for, such innocent smiles enjoying the rides like its the best thing ever. Their parents taking pictures and videos of them from the sideline to capture the moments forever. To me, a fair is a novelty that won’t wear off. I have been going to them since I was young and I still enjoy going to them when they are around and I get the chance to go.

Farms / Zoos:

I love Animals. My ideal day out would be at the Zoo and I would love to do that again and again. I could it. As I enjoy photography, I can take my camera and then take lots of pictures of them. On TV I love watching animal programs. Currently, my favourite program is “The secret life of the zoo”. It is about the Chester Zoo. They have a wide range of animals there, I haven’t been to the zoo yet but one day I would love to go. It is quite far from where I am living so if I to around the area, then I will want to go to the zoo for the day. I’m fascinated with the way they look and the way they are. There is some sort of innocence on their faces which makes you love them. I like to see how they live their lives and how they eat and I would always want to go, but as I got older the schools didn’t take us too the zoo. I look forward to my next zoo visit.

Those are 6 things that make me smile. Of course, everyone has their lists. What are your 6 things that make you smile?

  1. Six things that really makes me smile are

    1) Being around kids. It’s an unforgettable feeling when you are the reason for their smile.
    2) Same goes with being around Oldies. I have few old age homes near my place and it’s something I don’t like to miss.
    3) Traveling
    4)Gardening
    5) I like wandering to unknown places. I have always being a curious to know just about everything
    6) My mom – We are poles apart and one would always see us arguing, but deep down we do know the bond we share.

  2. Hi dear..
    Cricket-
You must be knowing the names of recent cricketers but I remember only the names of cricketers till 2013 . Because after that I moved away from tv. Studies was my main priority.
During childhood I used to play cricket in my colony with other kids by making wickets with keeping block of stones one above the other. We used to shout a lot. I wasn’t perfect in playing cricket lol. In my college life, I tried playing cricket and football but sometimes I used to hurt my knees and also everyone used to make fun of me as I couldn’t hit fast bowls in cricket lol. So, gradually my interest got diminished as now I really don’t know who are the players in Indian team. If you ask me about any news around the world then probably I can answer about it, because I check my mobile for world news always… Interest can be developed anytime. It’s just we need to have the resources with us and I don’t have tv in my room at the moment because my first priority is my study 🙂

    Date nights-
Not even 1 time also I have been on a date with any female friends. Because I used to be shy to ask them. J think practically most of the time and so going for date night types was a waste of time for me because I didn’t felt any real connection. All connections were temporary. And slowly slowly all moved on, I also moved on my way.
2010-2013 I used to go to restaurants alone for eating. I didn’t had any friend . 2013-2018 I used to eat cakes alone in the shop, yeah sometimes my juniors rarely used to give me company. Then on 2019, I decided to move out with my juniors and spend some quality time with them during lunch or dinner.

As I have heard in the interview on YouTube about Maharaj of Jaipur he said in an Interview that if you don’t admire those people who are continuously around you then you won’t have any existence of yours. It’s because they respect you, they look after you daily, it’s because of them you are known. So, we should respect them.
And that’s why I decided to go for lunch or dinner with my juniors as we all used to live in same hostel building..
